President Ranil Wickramasinghe has called for a report from the Chairmen of loss-making state institutions Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and SriLankan Airlines justifying reasons for having paid bonuses to employees in a situation where the Financial Ministry has informed while issuing a circular, not to pay bonuses to loss-making Corporations and Boards.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has paid two months’ salaries to its employees and SriLankan Airlines has paid 100,000 rupees as bonus to each of its employees, it is reported.
CPC has spent Rs. 1.2 billion while SriLankan Airlines had spent Rs. 580 million to pay Corporation bonus to employees.
The President’s Media Division yesterday (03) reported that President has ordered the Chairmen of CPC and SriLankan Airlines to provide a report with explanations for having paid bonuses contrary to government circulars.
