One Dead, 13 Injured in Southern Expressway Accident Involving Tourist Bus and Cement Truck

A tragic accident on the Southern Expressway early this morning (17) claimed the life of one individual and left 13 others injured when a tourist bus collided with a cement truck near the 138th-kilometer marker.

The accident occurred around 5:10 a.m., resulting in the death of the bus driver transporting 12 foreign tourists.

The injured were promptly admitted to the Tangalle and Beliatta hospitals. According to hospital sources, the injuries sustained by the victims are not critical.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
