Farmers are permitted to take any necessary action to protect their crops from damage caused by wild animals within their cultivated lands, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation Lal Kantha stated in Parliament yesterday (05).
The Minister acknowledged that crop damage by wild animals, particularly toque monkeys, has become a significant issue, with some even referring to it as “toque monkey terrorism.”
He noted that such damages affect not only farmers but also the general public.
“There are no legal restrictions against farmers taking action to address crop damage caused by wild animals on their lands. Take any action that is possible,” he emphasized.
The Minister also assured that his ministry is committed to finding lasting solutions to the challenges faced by farmers and that these issues would be resolved soon.
