Former Minister Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa is scheduled to appear before the Bandarawela Magistrate’s Court today (20th) in connection with an investigation into the possession of a modern, fraudulently assembled lorry.

The arrest was made yesterday (19th) by the Walana Anti-Corruption Task Force following an interrogation lasting over six hours.

The lorry in question was discovered by the Task Force on December 5 last year in the Muthuwanawatta area of Haputale. Police have since reported the findings to the Bandarawela Magistrate’s Court as part of the ongoing investigation.

This case has drawn significant public attention, marking a critical step in addressing allegations linked to fraudulent activities.
