The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) has warned the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent text messages and phone calls promising cash rewards.

Senior Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola stated that reports have been received about individuals using fake phone calls to extract money.

“You might receive fake messages claiming you’ve won cash prizes, offering various discounts, work-from-home opportunities, or overseas jobs. Avoid sharing your personal information through such messages,” he advised.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Mr. Damunupola also commented on the recent cyberattack targeting the Government Printing Department’s website.

“We identified several vulnerabilities in the website that may have led to the cyberattack. Efforts are underway to restore the site and make it accessible to the public as soon as possible,” he added.
