Mendis Company’s Petition Dismissed

The Court of Appeal today (04) ruled to dismiss without hearing the petition filed by W.M. Mendis Company, seeking a ruling to nullify the letter issued by the Excise Department informing it that steps will be taken to suspend the liquor production licenses issued to its company due to non-payment of outstanding taxes.

The order was issued by a bench of Justices Sobitha Rajakaruna and Mahen Gopallawa of the Court of Appeal after lengthy consideration of the facts.
