The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) is set to announce its final decision today (17) regarding a reduction in electricity tariffs.
Public consultations on the proposed tariff revisions, covering all provinces, concluded recently. Feedback from the public suggests a reduction of 20% to 30% in current electricity tariffs.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has proposed that no tariff revisions be made for the next six months.
Taking all considerations into account, including public feedback and the CEB’s recommendations, the PUCSL is expected to reveal the extent of the tariff reduction later today.
