The Human Resources Manager of Hiru TV has conceded that the sacking of Journalist Nirosh Maithri, who served at Hiru TV, was fired devoid of having conducted a disciplinary inquiry into his ‘alleged’ conduct.
This was conceded to during a hearing at the Narahenpita Labour Tribunal 22 April.
Journalist Nirosh Maithri was sacked for ‘allegedly’ having released a video pertaining to the Hiru TV New Year celebrations in April 2020, which was done in violation of quarantine regulations.
However, the journalist was sacked on pure suspicion with no disciplinary hearing into his alleged conduct.
The Judge of the Labour Tribunal U. Dalpadadu ordered the case to be taken up for hearing again on June 4.
The company had further stated that it was unable to appear before the tribunal during the previous hearing since it had not been notified, which the labor tribunal Judge said was unacceptable.
