Samagi Jana Balawega MP Nalin Bandara says that the government has started inciting anti-Muslim sentiments in the midst of growing public displeasure against the regime.
The MP was speaking during a media briefing in Colombo (25) regarding the arrest of MP Rishad Badurdeen.
“There were several tools used by the government to acquire power. One was espousing hatred against Muslims in Sri Lanka. How did they fashion this anti-Muslim movement? On one side they positioned Rishard and Dr. Shafi on the other. They claimed that Sinhala women were being sterilized. They spoke about food prepared by Muslims which supposedly made Sinhalese infertile. These were the tactics used to gain power” Bandara said.
MP Nalin Bandara further said that the government was being fueled by such racist propaganda, which was its main survival mechanism.
